On Sept. 9, Apple rolled out what CEO Tim Cook is calling its “biggest advances” yet: the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
The new models both boast slimmer design, faster LTE service and larger display surfaces, among other features, according to a company news release. And they are in fact bigger. From a functional standpoint, the two phones deliver nearly identical capabilities but give purchasers a choice of screen sizes.
The 6 model boasts a 4.7-inch Retina HD display screen and 38 percent more viewing area than the 5s. The 6 Plus model offers a 5.5-inch Retina HD display and 88 percent more viewing surface than the 5s.
The phones come loaded with a new package of bells and whistles, such as the M8 motion coprocessor. The processor gathers motion data that appears in the new standard-issue “Health” app, letting users track statistics such as how far they ran or how many stairs they climbed.
iPhone 6 comes in gold, silver or space gray and will retail for about $200. The iPhone 6 Plus model will be available in the same colors and will retail at about $299 for the 16GB model.
