The Advertising Federation of Gainesville, AdFed, recently inducted their new board. Returning members include Jennifer Norman: President Elect, Kinnon Thomas Treasurer: Susan Meurlott: Membership, Sue Wagner: President Advisory and Wes Lindberg: Communications. Virginia MacKoul
Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group welcomes Virginia MacKoul as the director of marketing and lease administration. A recent graduate from UF’s College of Design Construction and Planning with a focus on Sustainability and the Built Environment & Urban Regional Planning, MacKoul will lead their new lease administration services that will provide clients with ongoing lease support, data management and enhanced awareness of tenant rights.
Greg Perrine
Greg Perrine has been named the new Director of Utilities at Jones Edmund & Associates, Inc. With over 30 years of experience in civil engineering, Mr. Perrine will oversee the development of the utilities staff to ensure that they remain at the forefront of utility practices and technology applications.

Advantage Personell Resources recently hired Joel Toigo to head their New Benefits Division
Donald Bolser, Ph.D.
UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s Office of Research has awarded Donald Bolser, Ph.D., a physiologist at the college who analyzes cough and other airway-protective behaviors, with a UF Research Foundation Professorship. The award includes a three-year salary increase as well as a one-time $3,000 grant for research support.
Tom Kay
Tom Kay has been hired as the new Executive Director for the Alachua Conservation Trust. Prior to joining the non-profit land conservation organization, Kay was an attorney at Jung & Sisco, P.A.
Yehia Daaka, Ph.D.
The University of Florida’s Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology has appointed Yehia Daaka, Ph.D. as their new Chair. Currently, Daaka serves as the Scientific Director for UF Prostate Disease Center and the David A. Cofrin Chair in Urologic Oncology.
David Ballard, the Events Coordinator for the City of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Department, was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Florida Festivals & Events Association (FFEA). Ballard will be inducted at FFEA’a annual convention held this year in Bonita Springs from July 31-Aug. 2.
David Hendryx
StorterChilds recently named Dave Hendryx as the company’s Vice President where he will oversee the sales department and assist the President in all areas of managerial functions. Hendryx has over 20 years of sales experience, 17 of which are with StorterChilds.
Tiffany Williams
Tiffany Williams, former Events Manager at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, has launched her event management company, Williams & Co. Williams will focus on corporate event planning and is looking forward to continue working with Gainesville’s business and innovation community.
Thomas A. Pearson, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D.
UF Health has appointed Thomas A. Pearson M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D. as the Executive Vice President for Research and Education. Pearson has been serving as the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and as the Director of the Rochester Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Phil Mann
The City of Gainesville Public Works Department named Phil Mann as their new Assistant Director. Mann has over 25 years of technical and management experience in the Public Works sector.
Lawrence Lottenburg, M.D.
Lawrence Lottenberg, M.D., an associate professor of surgery and anesthesiology at UF Health, has been awarded the Raymond H. Alexander Award from the Florida chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Having served as the President for the Florida chapter of the American College of Surgeons for two years, Lottenberg was also the founding trauma surgeon at UF Health Shands Hospital’s Level 1 trauma center in December 2003.
DeMarcus Neal
Cox Communications has hired DeMarcus Neal as a new media consultant for its advertising division of Central Florida. Prior to his new position, Neal worked for Local Edge – Hearst Media Services selling digital media in Gainesville, Ocala and Lake City.
Caleb McDow
Caleb McDow, a Sales Associate for Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group, has been selected to take part in the 40th Class of Leadership Gainesville. Leadership Gainesville is a year-long community leadership program that fosters leadership skills in Gainesville’s most promising leaders.
Russ Blackburn
City Manager Russ Blackburn has been selected to receive the “Home Rule HERO Award” from the Florida League of Cities. Blackburn was recognized for his determination skills on how legislation might impact cities.
