Michael D. Holmes, m.s.a., Named UF Health Svp and Gainesville Regional President

Michael D. Holmes, M.S.A., has been named UF Health senior vice president and Gainesville regional president, effective March 17.
Holmes most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the 1,541-bed Yale-New Haven Hospital, which includes the Smilow Cancer Hospital, the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, and the Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, making it one of the largest hospitals in the country. It is the primary teaching hospital for the Yale University School of Medicine and the Yale School of Nursing.

Over the course of his career, Holmes has held a variety of other senior-level management positions, including as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Franciscan St. James Health, president and chief operation officer of St. Luke’s Hospital (part of Ascension Health’s St. Vincent’s Health System in Jacksonville), and as an executive leader for 19 years with Trinity Health, among other roles.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in public health administration from Indiana University – Bloomington and a Master of Science in administration from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he has recently served as a board member of the United Way of Greater New Haven, among a variety of other community volunteer roles. Holmes also is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and the National Association of Health Care Executives.
Holmes said he shares in UF Health’s vision for optimizing collaboration across the clinical enterprise to bring the best in compassionate care and world-class outcomes to UF Health’s patients and communities.
