Gainesville Health & Fitness's Main Center Opens a 12,000-square-foot addition
Bringing the already 66,000-square-foot Newberry Road fitness center to 78,000-square-feet, the new space includes a cycle studio that is double in size, a larger free-weight and cardio area and a women’s free weight area. ReQuest Physical Therapy, which was already housed in the facility, is now located at the front of the center. Floor-to-ceiling windows add natural light and give the new cardio area an outdoor view of Newberry Road.
The new space has come a long way since the company’s beginnings. In 1978, owner Joe Cirulli began with a 1,500-square-foot facility above a bank on Archer Road. Since then, due to initiatives by Gainesville Health & Fitness and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Gainesville was
awarded the first and only Gold Well City, USA Award from the Wellness Councils of America in 2003. Additional community efforts include an annual free teen membership and twice-yearly Family Fun Fitness Days, among others. Storm Roberts, who emceed the unveiling of the expansion, said “Joe has literally dedicated his whole life to our health. There are things here that no other club in the country has.
Internationally we are renowned, and Joe is the guy. He is the straw that stirs the drink, the man that makes all of this happen”.
